Now located in a small corner shop at Jalan Barrack, Taiping’s most famous cendol stall started operations way back in 1950, when the refreshing concoction was peddled from a tree-shaded cart along the road. The homemade cendol is soft and silky and the palm-sugar infused coconut milk is rich without being too creamy – the hint of saltiness in the drink makes it very pleasant. You can also add glutinous rice which has been cooked and wrapped in banana leaf before being grilled.
