Kedai Kopi Dan Makanan Ang Hock @ Jalan Tiong Nam 5, KL

Kedai Kopi Dan Makanan Ang Hock
Lorong Tiong Nam 5,
Kuala Lumpur.
Business hour: 5am to 11am
Close on Monday

After being 1 year plus working nearby this place, we are here to capture some great food around us. Bak Kut Teh is one of the favourite food for most of the Malaysian. We got to know that the owner of this restaurant is a migrant from China in year 1950+. He had been working in Malaysia (known as Malaya previously) and finally settled down with this restaurant for almost 30 years.

My wife brought me here to try out new good. They open for lunch and dinner time. We had being welcome by the owner of this restaurant (Chris Wong)...Well he always mingle around with the patrons to ensure everyone is happy with the food served.

Vietnamese Spring Roll (RM6.00)
This is nice and should give it a try...Make sure you go with the sauce given..

Steam Tilapia (RM18.00)
The fish is fresh and the steam style is just fine..

Steam Pork with Salted Fish (RM12.00)
This doesn't suits our taste. I would say it is tasteless.

Sambal Belacan Kang Kung (RM8.00)
The sambal belacan taste sweet and lack of spicy taste. Besides, it is too oily.

Overall the food is just not that good for us. However, we will be back for the Vietnamese food.

Our second breakfast in Singapore. We had another try of prawn noodle but different location. It looks plain as the prawn was separated from the noodles. We are there about 10.30am and is crowded. No doubt, the prawn is better than the previous posting.

Prawn Noodle but the prawn was separated. The bee hoon texture is bigger compared to the normal one. As heard, it was imported from China. I quite like the texture. The soup in incredible as the sweetness of the prawn can be tasted.

Prawns nicely cut into half and served in a bowl of prawn noodle soup. The prawns are big and fresh. Yummy Yummy!!!

A must have chilli (belacan) with dried shallot.
Always try the original soup before adding this chilli...

 Lobak - side dish
I don't like this at all as the taste not good.

Ming Chung Restaurant
(Authentic Henghua Cuisine)
67, Maude Road,
Singapore 208348.
Tel: +65 62963428
Website: www.mingchung.com.sg

For their history, you can get more from their website. As you can see, they are established since 1933 and still doing very well and even better. For those who don't know anything about Henghua, here is some brief summary about them.

"Henghua is a minority Chinese dialect of the immigrants from Putien in Fujian province. The dialect and cuisine are closest to that of Foochow and Hokkien dialects, but is also unique in its own ways. Putien is located near the coast, which explains why ingredients like sea weed, oysters, clams and other seafood are dominant features in the Henghua cuisine." - extracted from www.mingchung.com.sg

The Restaurant. Being told that the restaurant will be crowded around 6pm till late night.

 Lor Mee (Braised Noodle)
This is something different from the normal lor mee we had in Malaysia.

 Stir Fried Clam (La La)
The taste quite unique

 Fried Kuning Fish
In Malaysia, it is also known as "Ikan Selar". It is best to serve it hot.
