Dinner time!!! Not many restaurant that is up to par at Mentakab. This is consider one of the best in town. For me, this is just an ordinary restaurant. Their service is really bad and the attitude of the staff is not favorable.

Deep Fried Tilapia with Soy Sauce - Fried till crispy

Homemade Beancurd with Minced Portk Topping
Yummy!!!

Omellette - Fluffy but oily and salty

Siew Yoke - Their signature (not too bad but salty)

Pahang.

There are very few Chinese restaurant in Mentakab. This is one of my MIL favorite which she like the food here (i.e. roast duck, steam "pak sook kong", kangkung belacan). This should be my third/ fourth time visiting this place. I would say a bit pricey in a small town for a decent food.

Roast Pork - not too bad...

Deep Fried Tilapia with Dried Butter Cream - It taste good but the shredded egg too little. However, my MIL don't quite like it.

Omelette - Yang's favorite..

Kang Kung Belacan - Once of my MIL favorite..

Yik Kee Restaurant Sdn Bhd @ Karak

Yik Kee Restaurant Sdn Bhd
29, Main Street, 28600 Karak, Pahang.
Tel: 09-2311240

Their specialty is their tarts and cakes...Introduce by Peggy that they have quite good egg tarts. After 1 hour of drive from KL and come to this place known as Karak...It is easy to locate this shop which is just at the main road. Their tarts is just so so and nothing compared to Tong Kee Brothers Confectionery @ Jalan Brunei.

Selera NJ @ Temerloh Reststop, Karak Highway

Selera NJ
(Temerloh Reststop, Karak Highway)
No 10, RSA Temerloh Arah Timur
RSA Temerloh Arah Barat
Temerloh
, Pahang

When I was travelling towards Kuantan via Karak Highway, came across Temerloh rest stop for some toilet break and brunch before continuing our journey. It was recommended by couple of colleagues about the place decided to try it since coming across the place.

Temerloh rest stop is pretty well developed whereby many stalls selling simple halal foods catering travellers like me.

Nasi lemak is common food for Malay race but the culture had been greatly adopted across all races in Malaysia. We have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner even supper sometimes thou it contain high calories but enjoy it always. Looking simple dish but is hard to master because the rice and the sambal must be balance and it compliments each another.

Nasi Lemak (Great)
[Recommended]
- together with chicken, egg and sambal. The rice is beautifully cook with great fragrance of santan (coconut milk) and not sticky. Most flavourful of all is the anchovies sambal where you can see the whole anchovies with its spiciness going so well with the rice -

Anchovies Sambal (Great)
- unlike many I tasted in Klang Valley, this is something belong to the East Cost continent flavour and style -

Overall, enjoying the typical East Cost style of nasi lemak makes the journey to Kuantan more exciting.

Jia - Food For the Season @ First World Hotel, Genting Highlands

Jia - Food For the Seasons
This shop is located at First World Plaza. There is variety of hawker stall in this place. We tried sizzling claypot and porridge.
Claypot Chicken Rice (RM13.20++)
This is nice but slightly salty. The ingredient is not that much.
Fish Porridge (RM13.00++)
At first, I ordered Frogleg porridge but it is sold out. What a pity to me!!! They only left Fish porridge...The fish is being fried first before it is put into the porridge. This taste good.
Boiled Sugar Cane (RM5.00++)
This is really expensive...but no choice la.

New Orleans Barbecue @ Genting Highlands, Pahang

This restaurant is located at Genting Hotel. To be exact, it is situated inside Monte Carlo Casino. For your information, no cameras are allowed but camera phone is fine. Make sure don't snap any picture around casino. Well, back to the food. New Orleans Barbecue is a non-halal restaurant. Surprisingly, there are a lot of people who dine-in here. I would say the price here is more reasonable than other restaurants in Genting Highlands.
Baby Back Pork Rib (1/2 slab) - RM38.00
The pork rib is slowly grilled to perfection. Just imagine, the pork rib is grilled under the fire and the sauce being swept on the pork rib layer by layer until cook.
Banger & Mash -RM28.00
This pork sausage consist of 3 flavours. It is hard to describe the taste but it is really nice. The mash potato is perfect even without the brown sauce.
Soft Shell Crab - RM12.00
Well, many people would thought this is kind of chicken wings instead of soft shell crab due to photo angle. Well, the fragrance of the soft shell crab makes me drool.

Penang Food Village @ Genting Highlands

This restaurant is at Theme Park Hotel. We have no idea what to had for our breakfast and we decide to try this out. Their menu is so limited as most of the food in the menu is sold out...Wondering is whether they don't want to sell or they have their own reason. Quality and taste is not up to my expectation.

Yong Teng Cafe @ Cameron Highlands

Yong Teng Cafe
Stall No 4 at the Majlis Daerah stalls (diagonally opposite Bank Pertanian Malaysia),
Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands,
Pahang.
Open 8am-5pm.

Head to this stall for a quick meal, which is one of the cheapest places in Tanah Rata for a simple, hearty fare. The place is run by Teng See Poh and his wife, Yong Oi Kim, who are both hearing-impaired. Communication with the friendly couple isn’t a problem, however, as diners are given a piece of paper to write their orders on. There is also a full-length menu with items listed in both Chinese and English, so just point to what you want.

The food is simple but well prepared, and the pancakes are particularly good. Fruit toppings such as banana or strawberry accompany the crepes, and for an additional 50 sen, you can have a scoop of ice-cream as well. The stall also serves nasi lemak, burgers, hot dogs, toast and half-boiled eggs.

Ana Ikan Bakar Petai @ Kuantan

Ana Ikan Bakar Petai is located at
Pantai Selera,
Tanjung Lumpur,
Kuantan.
Tel: 019-987 8155 (Haji Baharin),
013-998 9175 (Fairuz).

Located by the sea, Ana Ikan Bakar Petai boasts fresh seafood — fish, squid, cockles, crabs, lala and prawns, which are cooked to order.

Diners can choose to have their food cooked in any of a number of styles: Bakar Petai (grilled with petai), Stim (steamed), Tiga Rasa (three flavours), Masam Manis (sweet and sour), Masak Pedas (spicy), Masak Tomato (tomato), Masak Kicap (black sauce) and Goreng Tepung (battered and fried).
Ikan and Sotong Bakar Petai.Crab

Bakar Petai is Ana’s signature style of cooking. The seafood is first slathered with sambal cili and then wrapped in a banana leaf together with onions and petai before it is placed on a charcoal grill. This cooking method ensures the flavour of the seafood is sealed in, and it gets the smoky aroma from the charcoal fire.

The stingray was fragrant from the slow grilling and the slightly burnt sides were very tasty. The flesh was smooth, tender and moist, and the simple yet distinctive sambal marinade was spicy but not to the extent of numbing the tongue. The kicap hitam is a very dark, caramelised sauce that is slightly sweet and sticky with a prawny after-taste, and its rich aroma gives the seafood a smoke-tinged flavour. The asam jawa sauce had the perfect balance of sweetness, sourness, spiciness and saltiness, with a strong hint of belacan. The combination of sticky dark sauce and piquant asam jawa sauce complemented the grilled seafood very nicely.
