Choosing chicken rice ball in Jonker Street, I often have Hoe Kee as compare to Chung Wah Restaurant. Partly is because I love the decoration and theme of the restaurant. Hoe Kee have beautiful decoration and you feel like your dinning in those old restaurant that you often see in drama.
Its easy to be located because Chung Wah is in front of Sam Suk Gong while Hoe Kee is behind along Jalan Hang Jebat whereby only few steps away from Sam Suk Gong.
Rice Ball (Great)
[Highly Recommended]
- like Japanses sushi whereby the rice being dolled together forming like a gold ball, it keeps the flavour of chicken oil nicely -
White Steam Chicken (Great)
[Highly Recommended]
- The chicken is beautifully steam to adequately cook where the meat is juicy and soft, if you over cook it the meat will be hard and chewy thus Hoe Kee done it quite well in terms of the timing of preparing the chicken -
Overall, the Hoe Kee is a strong competitor against Chung Wah as they serve identical rice balls and chicken. Its subjective to conclude which is better because it depends on you preferences.
